Specific actions for achieving energy efficiency aimed at meeting these projections are described below.

ACTION 1 Advocate for increased energy efficiency, water conservation, and other performance standards in the Florida Building Code in partnership with Broward County and other stakeholders. Priority Level: 1 Timeframe: Ongoing GHG Impact: High Funding: Federal and state grants, utility rebates City Partners: City of Fort Lauderdale Public Works Department, City of Fort Lauderdale Development Services, Broward County, Transportation and Mobility Department (TAM) Initial Cost: Low Life-Cycle Cost: Low Additional Community Cost: Medium ROI: Low LOE: Low Social Impact: Medium Strategic Priority Alignment: Housing, infrastructure, and resilience Co-Benefits: Improved climate resilience Performance Metrics: Kilowatt-hours (kWh) per square foot of building space, number of applications submitted to the Conservation Pays Toilet Rebate Program, number of faucet aerators and water efficient showerheads requested Implementation:  Work with Broward County, developers, businesses, and other stakeholders to understand current challenges with and best opportunities for and advocate for increased energy efficiency, water conservation, and other performance standards in building codes.  Identify best practices in local governments to implement impactful and achievable standards.  Monitor performance against new and existing green building standards for energy efficiency and water conservation.
