3.1 Greyhound / Flixbus Greyhound Bus and Flixbus, private, for profit bus operators, operate 12 daily round trips from Miami to Key West. Greyhound/Flixbus, publish running times between Miami and Key West that are similar to those of the public operators, and also are likely to have their on-time performance negatively impacted by the same traffic congestion that effects the public bus routes (and all traffic). Fares start at $24.99 for one-way with a $2.99 seat fee with optional ‘neighbor-free’ traveling for an additional $12.49. Payments are collected via credit or debit card on the website or cash via participating retailers using Paysafecash. While these fares are significantly higher than the public transit options, the Greyhound service has two important advantages over the public options that would make it well worth the additional cost for many travelers. First, the route operates continuously from Miami to Key West, with no need to transfer between services at an interim location. Second, the route originates at the Miami International Airport Intermodal Center (MIC) and stops at several Miami area locations between there and Key Largo, including downtown Miami and Miami Beach. MDT routes 301 originates at MDT’s SW 344 St Park and Ride, a peripheral location in Southwest Miami Dade County. To use transit to travel to the Keys from other parts of the Miami, travelers first must travel to the SW 344th Street facility before continuing south on

MDT Route 301, a process that would be time consuming and confusing for visitors to the area.
