NMDOT Parts Catalog Part 2
NMDOT PARTS CATALOG – PART 2
DEVELOPMENT REPORT
Figure 15: Proposed Styles in Model Space
All structure styles, except for those labeled sanitary will display in all views as green solid lines. Those labeled as sanitary will display as yellow-green solid lines. All styles will plot as black solid lines. Colors, line types, and plot styles have been updated in the Layer properties to reflect the styles described above. See Appendix C for a list of new layer and style properties along with sample plots of the existing and proposed styles. 4.0 DISCUSSION The NMDOT Part Catalog project manifested considerable innovation and changes to the way we use NMDOT parts in design projects. Topics discussed throughout the project’s development included the list of parts, organization of the parts, Standard Drawings, Bid Item List, and level of detail in models. 4.1 PARTS OMITTED There were several parts omitted from the catalog for a variety of reasons. This catalog’s purpose was to include the most common NMDOT structures that benefit most users. Reasons to not include parts from the Standard Drawings or the Bid Item List are described in the bullet list below: • Some sizes in the Bid Item List are not currently available from manufacturers in New Mexico. • Some parts are not commonly used, or it is unclear how the bid item is intended to be used. • Parts listed by bid item that included height ranges are consolidated into single parts because structure height is controlled by C3D, and when omitting the height difference, the parts are identical. • Rural and urban type inlets are consolidated into one part because the inlet grates are too detailed for this catalog. • The transverse inlets and cattle guard inlet are not included because the length of these inlets and their slope varies based on the roadway geometry. Thus, it is not feasible to model them in C3D as structures. Instead, the user may consider using custom subassemblies. • Headwalls are not included in this catalog because they often need custom design, diverging from the Standard Drawings, to interact with existing conditions. In the future, standard headwalls may be added into the catalog.
