2.5.3 Safety and Security On MDT Route 301, passengers raised concerns about being dropped off at stops near bridges, where high-speed traffic poses a significant risk to pedestrians. Additionally, riders often find themselves needing to cross the road at locations where there are no crosswalks nearby to board the bus in the opposite direction, exposing them to potential traffic hazards. At the LKS stop at Hawks Cay in the US1 Median, both motorists and pedestrians face safety issues due to the absence of crosswalks or signage to alert drivers to pedestrian activity. A driver on route 301 reported instances of violence occurring onboard the bus, emphasizing the necessity for security enhancements on this route and others.
