2.4 INFRAWORKS The interoperability between Infraworks, Civil 3D, and Inventor was explored to utilize drainage models created in Infraworks. Custom parametric structures can be exported into Infraworks and used for NMDOT project models. However, parametric pipes cannot be exported into Infraworks because they were created using Civil 3D Part Builder, which does not have that functionality. Pipe Networks in Civil 3D cannot be exported into Infraworks with full functionality because of differences between how pipes are defined. In Infraworks, pipes are modeled as Culverts or Pipelines, which have their own unique parameters and properties. Figure 9 shows a screenshot of these components. A complete roundtrip between a Civil 3D pipe network and a drainage network in Infraworks is not currently possible without a loss of information.
